Meet Teacher Andrew

I am a passionate and experienced Geography educator, and tutoring is now my full-time job. My focus is entirely on teaching and tutoring, so all of my energy, planning and preparation goes into my students and their results.

I am a qualified teacher with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), trained in the UK. My academic background includes a BSc in Environmental Hazards and Disaster Management from Kingston University, London, followed by a Masters in Crisis and Disaster Management from Portsmouth University, which specialised my knowledge further in hazards, and a PGCE in Secondary Geography from Brighton University, United Kingdom.

I have found real joy in working with students who genuinely want to dive into geography, learn about our beautiful world, and of course pass their exams with high marks.

I believe that geography is not just about memorizing facts, but understanding the complex relationships that shape our world. My lessons focus on active dialogue, critical thinking, and equipping students with the skills they need to excel in their exams and become global citizens.

How I teach

• Real case studies. Lessons are built on real events that have actually happened around the world, so every topic is grounded in facts and real-world impact. Your child learns what really happened, why it happened, and what the effects were, rather than just memorising theory.
• Exactly what the exam board wants. I teach students how to structure their answers for the exam board and what examiners are looking for in every command word.
• Support that fades away. I use sentence starters like training wheels on a bike, until students can write well-structured responses confidently on their own.
• Skills that go beyond geography. Correct geographical key terms, connectives, adjectives, and how to evaluate properly, a skill that also helps with English, the sciences, and other subjects.

I am patient and diligent. If time allows, you will notice that a lesson sometimes runs over its 50 minutes, because it matters to me that every student walks away from each lesson having learned something new. If that means explaining it again in a different way, I will happily do that, because we all learn differently.

I love to bring the learning to life. Having lived in countries like Bangladesh, I have personally lived through the effects of flooding and cyclones, which lets me bring a real feeling to the facts behind these topics. I also bring in current events, such as why the most recent earthquake occurred, so your child gets learning that goes beyond a textbook and connects with the world as it is today.
